Educate, Empower, Elevate: Reflect and Act on National Girl Child Day 2025
Today, we celebrate National Girl
Child Day, a day dedicated to promoting equality, equal rights, and equal
opportunities for girls. It raises awareness about the various challenges they
face in the society, and is a call-to-action to work together towards
eliminating them and ensuring a safe, empowered and bright future for every
girl of our nation.
National Girl Child Day was
established by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2008 and aligns
with Government's broader efforts to empower the girl child.
Empowered Girl Child Equates to Empowered Nation
Strong and empowered girls have
the capability to uplift their families, communities, society, and the nation.
In a country where 48.42% of the population is female, the empowerment of girls
and women is essential for achieving progress, prosperity, and peace.
Although significant improvements
have been made over the last few decades, our society is still marred by
serious issues such as gender-based discrimination, inequality, domestic
violence, and social evils that hinder the growth of girls.
It is vital to raise awareness at
the grassroots level. We must instil values of respect and gender equality in
boys from childhood, while also nurturing virtues of courage, freedom, and
self-belief in girls. A holistic approach is imperative to create an equitable
future while addressing the challenges faced by girls and women today.
We need to understand that since
the inception of time, the role of women has been paramount. From religious,
spiritual, and natural viewpoints, life would be incomplete without females.
Nature has created nearly every species with both male and female counterparts,
illustrating their equality and equal significance.
Girl Child is An Embodiment of Care: Saint
Dr MSG's Pious Teachings
Explaining the importance of
girls, Baba
Ram Rahim elucidates that the pious Vedas refer even a young girl as a
mother, as she starts illustrating her very caring and loving nature since her
childhood.
A girl child consistently
demonstrates concern for her family's well-being, particularly for her parents,
and showcases remarkable nurturing traits. This nurturing quality has led to
her being deeply revered and regarded as the nurturer of life since ancient
times.
A woman is the one who gives
birth to every revered incarnation, guru, saint, or prophet; thus, the girl
child is highly esteemed for her vital role as a mother and a nurturer.
Referred to as the 'Ardhangini'
or better half of a man after marriage, most religions have a viewed a woman as
having an intuitive and spiritual spirit, who guides a man and her entire
family towards the path of prosperity, ensuring their allegiance to righteousness.
Baba Ram Rahim's insights
underscore the vital role that girls play in fostering familial bonds and
nurturing future generations, reinforcing the need for their empowerment and
recognition in society.
Her strength, resilience, depth
of understanding, decision making and empathetic nature makes her capable of
finding or innovating unique solutions to challenges, touching new heights and
ensuring an inclusive growth.
Women Empowerment Initiatives at Dera Sacha
Sauda
Under the able guidance of His
Holiness Baba
Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, Dera Sacha Sauda has launched numerous women
empowerment initiatives that are actively supported by millions of followers
worldwide. These initiatives have played a crucial role in elevating the status
of women in society, transforming social paradigms, and changing the mindset of
the general populace.
Saint Dr. MSG emphasizes that
daughters are assets rather than liabilities, highlighting their potential to
bring honor to both their families and the nation.
To empower women, Guruji
commenced initiatives that encompass pledge against female feticide, providing
equal education and rights to daughters, providing self defense training,
vocational training for rural women, helping with remarriage of divorced or widowed
women, helping the destitute pregnancy women and new mothers etc.
Pioneering in the unique approach
to education, Saint Dr. MSG established educational institutes for girls that
provide a harmonious blend of academics, sports, moral values and character
building, making it akin to a 'Gurukul'.
The girl students of these
schools and colleges have won numerous national and international sports
championships and have topped the ranks at district, state and national levels
in academics.
These collective efforts are
yielding positive results, as girls are proving their mettle in every field of
life.
With revered Guru Ji's
encouragement, millions have pledged against female foeticide and are nurturing
their girl child with great love and care.
Let’s Pledge to Empower the Girl Child
Today, as we celebrate the
National Girl Child Day on January 24, let's commit to going the extra
mile—not only nurturing our daughters but also supporting destitute girls whose
dreams deserve to be transformed into reality. Let us embrace the teachings of Baba
Ram Rahim, work to end social vices and discrimination against girls,
promote equal growth opportunities, and let the greatness of our country shine
on a global stage.
